wheres the best place to get some polish zlotties
Discussion
or whatever they are called !
the internet seems to think I will get 4 for a quid yet thomsons are offering 3.5
I will only be changing around 500 quid.
I also thought about changing the cash over there but can't really be arsed (I'll probably be too pissed to contemplate currency on a stag doo)
Any help (along with things to see and do in Krakov) would be appreciated
cheers

The best place to exchange will be in Poland at one of the many "Kantor" shops. The rate should be around 4 - 4.2 (used to be over 6.5 a few years ago) and you don't normally have to pay any commission charges. Also have a look at the Kantors at Krakow airport, as they may also offer competitive rates.
If you need to change a few quid in the UK to get you started, try the post office, as I have found them to offer reasonable rates in the past.

I agree with Mandat, get your Polish money in Poland, you get a much better exchange rate.
Though I remember when it was ZL25,000 to the pound back in the early 90's...

I remember that it got as high as over 70,000 to the £1 in the 90's, before the currency was devalued by dividing by 10,000 (i.e. 70,000:1 down to 7:1)Though I remember when it was ZL25,000 to the pound back in the early 90's...

I know it is a Stag Do but IMO you should go to Auschitz. There is a sign there saying something along the lines of "If history is forgotten, it will be allowed to repeat itself"
Depending on whether you are a typical British Stag Party or a little more discerning you could try this restaurant.

A little pricey and they will probably frown at the bread roll chucking brigade but one of the most memorable meals I have ever had.Failing that there is always Hooters around the corner.
Have a good one

We used to have a lot of good times in Poland, especially visiting in the 80's. I remember it was always a real adventure as we had to cross the Iron Curtain.
