Just a 3 hour endurance event at Buckmore Park. Two novice team members. Only using thunders, but should be a laugh as its forcast torential rain
Looking forward to it
Damn. I love karting in the rain - all of a sudden my weight penalty becomes an advantage. It's also a much tougher mental challenge to push yourself just hard enough to not spin and keep a check on who is spinning away any hope of winning.Looking forward to it

Can I just say...

Was there even an internet then?

I joined the original site when I had a TVR, before it changed to Pistonheads. The 97 months if just from when it changed to pistonheads, I believe Ted actually has a higher month count. Profile said:

Anyway karting in the wet, love it

Cool - haven't been karting for a long time.
I love it in the wet too (seem to be able to be much quicker than most
). However I normally find rental karts to be a bit of a pig in the wet compared to the club 100 ones - i think the clutches mean the power is much more on/off.
my first outdoor karting experience was at buckmore in the wet - it was great
(I was about 13).

Yep its not so physical, but you have to think more. Followed a guy down the (short) straight at Buckmore in the rain, big rooster tails of spray coming off his tyres, suddenly lost traction couldn't hold it and he became an instant passenger for the 4 revolutions he made before hiting the tyre wall, I shouldn't but

Yeah, people tend to have big spins down there in the wet.Cotty said:

I had a day in those Club 100 karts shown in your pic earlier this year, they were absolutely fantastic. Completely different kettle of fish to the rental karts you find at your local track.
I think they have changed the karts since that picture was taken. But as far as i know they are still the quickest arrive and drive karts available. I think Sandown have a fleet of 125cc's but they are only open to experienced karters. If its wet the smile factor will be off the scale
Did a day @ Buckmore last year and it was wet for 80% of the track time, hilarious. Massive understeer then snap oversteer... soon learned to be gentle and the thing started to dance around nicely bl00dy brilliant fun!!! Great circuit too, some really good fun corners (especially in the wet)

Yep Whilton Mill is a nice track, I liike the main (big)uphill straight. The downhill section you can almost take flat in the 100's. The exit from the "Boot" could do with a bit more protection, that fence is big and hard, keep it on the black stuff and it a great trackGassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

want to be doing that myself but lack of a job means a lack of money so will have to wait for more karting at a decentish level for a while
