Long way round - great adventure
Long way down - ok, version of a format

By any means - taking the p1ss with licence-payers money for one guy to spend his life gallivanting round the world on someone else's tab. Where will it end - the original adventure format now seems to have become a licence for Charley Boorman to satisfy every self-centred travel whim he might come up with.

Who says it cost the license payers anything? His own production company would have made it and then the Beeb would buy it if they thought it was good viewing or told them to speak to C5 is it wasn't. Lighten up, there's more important things to get all upset about.

So who the feck is Charlie Boreman anyway?

Looks like a professional waster from the BBC adverts I've been forced to watch between BBC drivel and my daily episodes of BBC news socialist propaganda.

You really think they made the programme first and then went to the BBC to see IF they'd buy it?

I'm jealous because I'm saving like mad and I have sold just about everything and my parents have permission to sell my bike if I run out of money and these guys don't have to worry about anything like that.
Getting major sponsorship is hard if you're a nobody frown

It's going to be a nice sneak preview of some places we'll see along the way smile

Charlie Boorman, actor and mate of Ewan McGregor. Dad directed Deliverance (squeal like a pig boy!).

The Long Way Round was top viewing, great sense of adventure into the unknown.
The Long Way Down was far to managed and supported. Lost it's sense of fun.

Watch Race to Dakar, the spirit is back and it's absolutely fascinating to see this bonkers race behind the scenes. Really gives you an insight into the mentality and mentalness of the competitors. Oh and finishing a stage with two broken hands... F**k me, you may think he moans a bit at times, but jesus. That's big bks and commitment right there.

Then, Sir, you are only sure of your own inaccuracy.

Nah, just swearing at people gets a bit boring after a while, so it's easier to be 'very' polite.
