Saw part of that programme with Joanna Lu,ley last night. The Aurora displays look stunning.

Whats the best way to get to see them in real life without spending absolute fortunes?

Only time I have seen them is from my house on the West Coast of Scotland.

They are amazing, very surreal. You wouldn't be spending a fortune to go on a camping holiday to the very North of mainland Scotland at the optimum time of year - whenever that is.

Or there are a few companies who do the plane trips North of Norway, although I don't know how much this is.

The sun is currently in 'doing bugger all' mode - I'd wait five or six years when you might stand a better chance.

They looked stunning last night. Were they 'enhanced' for TV, or is that what they really look like?

Same here. Quite astounding. So much bigger than anything I'd expected and more "experienced" than "seen". We seemed to be inside the aurora rather than looking at it in the distance.

I saw them from John O'Groats, not as impressive as on the TV programme but in the distance some flickering shimmering lights to the North.

You can see them from aircraft under certain condtions. The pilot woke the whole 'plane up to tell everyone to look out the window. Impressive.

I couldn't do that. There was no such thing as a 747 when I was 10; I think there might have been a Comet or something like that. laugh

It did look spectacular on TV last night though. yes

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I saw Northern Lights then discussed the effects of crossbreeding it with a sativa strain...
