Quick road trip
Discussion
My friend is coming over from the US for a couple of weeks and is asking about the possibilities of the following:
Leave London by car, train to Calais and then drive to Amsterdam (leave london friday AM)
Stay in cheap hotel or camp in a tent!!!! Friday night, sight see / go mad and then head back but try and fit Paris in there too on the way back ?? Needs to be back in London for Sunday PM.
Friday leave, friday night in Dam all day sat in dam, drive to Paris Sat afternoon, paris all day Sun and drive back Sun PM?
Sounds too much to me? Any other ideas or places to do see along the way? (defiantly wants to go the Dam though...)

you can take the train all the way. Leave London by car, train to Calais and then drive to Amsterdam (leave london friday AM)

london to paris on eurostar = 2.5hrs
paris to amsterdam is about 3.5hrs iirc. stops in brussels and rotterdam on the way too.

was about 35euro one way last year.
why so desperate to go to the dam? if its for the obvious, i would get him some weed in and one of those £15 london prossies and do everyone a favour.
Sounds like hes cramming a lot into a weekend.
To make the best use of time why not eurotunnel it to Paris and have the rest of the day/ next morning sightseeing. Then fly to Amsterdam for a night out to remember followed by some more sightseeing and a mid afternoon flight back to London.
Waste too much time on the road if he wants to drive and only has 2 days.

No he does not smoke but always wanted to go.
I say just make it a trip to Amsterdam and leave out Paris!
Drive or Train? I think driving would be a bit more of a laugh and can stop as and when you want....

driving would be a laugh but with such a short trip you only need one traffic jam and you're f
ked. i'd fly. shouldn't be much of a difference in price even leaving it this late. klm usually very competitive with the budget airlines. vlm fly out of london city but its mainly a business airline so can be pricey.
if he can save the dam for another time, go to paris. £55 return on the eurostar and much more to do. amsterdam is no fun in the rain either.
