Working well.

They've got the particles racing around in one direction at the moment.

The next step is to test the drive in the opposite direction.

Then you can start to worry.

I have to say that i am utterly fascinated by this experiment. A little worried by the unknown but still fascinated.

My rational bones know there is no need to worry, but at the same time...

Is there much in the US media about this caper I wonder?

Radio 4 have Andrew Maher on site and he is chipping in to their normal live broadcasts at the moment with updates. It's when he is cut-off mid sentence that we know we have mere milliseconds of existence left.

Does anyone else feel that this is one of those BIG BIG moments in your life that you'll remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened?

I'm surprised an experiment with such potential risk was allowed to go ahead by the hands of some scientists in Europe. Surely world leaders should be like "NO!" ?

Isn't the term 'Black Hole' a little un-PC these days?

Heskey who do you think signed the cheques to make this machine possible? Having spent the cash surely they will want to see what happens.

Isn't it going to be yonks before there are any particles being collided? I thought all that is happening is particles going one way for a few days and then the other way for a bit.

It's going to be when they are going in both directions at the same time that the good stuff starts.

Did you go out of the house this morning? If so, I'm surprised you did, with such potential risk. Surely you should be like (sic) "NO!"?

The risks to you from the LHC being turned on today are microscopic compared to the risks we all take every day. Read the main thread on the topic.
