Are you on about trawlermen drowning at sea, people being eaten by sharks, people being stung by poisonous fish, or people dying from food poisoning or choking on a bit of fish

Or all of the above ?

What a pointless poll!

I'd go for cattle given the combination of poor driving standards, free roaming cattle and a population of 1bn+ in India.

yes What he said, you need to be more specfic.

If you mean deaths purely from being around them (ie not eating), I'd probably say cattle since more people will be in contact with them and they trample a hell of a lot of people.

If you mean eating as well, including food poisoning, then probably fish.

If you include fishermen dying as a result of fishing them, then probably fish.

So, to sum up, the poll is bkS.

In the UK, in 2006/7, cattle killed ten people.

HSE said:
In 2006/07 injuries from animals caused more deaths than any other category.
Eleven people were killed by animals, five more than in the previous year
(2005/06). Three involved bulls, seven cows or other cattle and one a horse. All
the victims sustained trauma injuries consistent with them having been attacked,
trampled to death or gored and trodden on by an individual animal or a herd of
cattle.
Two people were killed in fish farming accidents:

HSE said:
A 49 year-old self-employed fish farmer died when he drowned in a tank used to rear
trout. The exact circumstances of the accident are not known, as there were no
witnesses but it is believed that he was grading fish. He was found by his wife floating
face down in a deep pond

A 44 year-old employee drowned whilst harvesting fish. He was crewing a local fishing
boat, but was missing when the boat returned to harbour. The weather was wet and
windy and the handrail was missing. The boat was cluttered with equipment hampering
access around the deck. There were no witnesses as to what happened or how he fell
overboard. When his body was recovered it was found that he had not been wearing a
lifejacket
So farming cattle > farming fish. But about 9 or 10 people a year are lost in commercial fishing accidents, which tips the balance towards fish > cattle.

Two of my children develop fish lips if eating certain white fish...no deaths yet.

On the other hand I spoke with someone yesterday who was recently sacked due to throwing a fresh Halibut at another member of staff.

As always it depends
In a field full of cows I'd have a guess the chances of fish injury are relatively small...

I'm covering the pedantry corner desk today.

Ali, good try.

Its 'anaphylactic shock', or more appropriately (given the context of the sentence) anaphylaxis.

On November 22 1982 The late Queen Mother was rushed to hospital for an operation after choking on a fish bone at a dinner party...we all know this was the beginning of her demise.
