I'm looking to go on hols with the wife and we would love to see Cuba in October, but given the Hurricane, does anyone know if has returned to a level of normality? We would like 4 days in Havana and 7-10 days in a resort.

Travel agents are telling us all is fine, but it's only a couple of weeks away and I wondered if anyone had any knowledge.

If Cuba is a No-no, then where else? Maldives?

Thanks

Havana and Varadero are OK, almost back to normal apparently. They missed the worst of Ike.

Holguin province, another very popular destination and IMO, one the best parts of southern Cuba is effectively closed at present. Major damage has been done to most resorts and it will be a few weeks before that area is ready for tourists, despite tour operators claims that it's OK.

Look at the cuban forums over on Tripadvisor.co.uk for more info.

I went this year in March and I'm going back again next year about the same time. Do you have to go away in october? Its still dirt cheap in feb march (£700 all inclusive for 2 weeks) and the weather is perfect!
