Red Arrows could fly at the olympics
Discussion
Apologies if this is a repost.
Do you remember the thread on here about the Red Arrows being declared 'too British' for the olympics and the subsequent petition? Well, according to the government that was never the case. Apparently the PM was "delighted" to see them previously and Tessa Jowel is "very clear in [her] own mind that the Red Arrows should be part of London’s welcome to the world in four years time".

Something vaguely positive for a change I guess.

Too British for the Olympics? I missed the original argument... Sounds like a load of tripe!
Have you been living in deepest darkest Africa then? The original story has been cropping up ad nauseum since London won the Olympic bid in 2005. It was never true and the Red Arrows must be sick to death denying the fact that they were somehow "banned" for being British.
It looks like the original story was created by one of the rabid tabloids just trying to stir up trouble.

Now that we no longer have Concorde (and, perhaps, let's not start that discussion again!) maybe we can hope that the Vulcan is still flying in 2012, and they can all complete a flypast together.
The Vulcan is a stunning piece of kit, no doubt. Not entirely sure a Cold War Nuclear detterent bomber that has been out of service for over 20 years is the symbol of all that is good about Britain and representative of a ideal future world, even less so in 2012. It's not a willy waving comp based on what machinery you've had in your arsenal over the years.R4PID said:
