Must play hell with one's conscience!
I've always wondered about guilt and conscience.I can only assume that to feel guilt you have to accept that your actions have been 'wrong'. I suppose that the contemporary social and cultural climate dictates what is wrong or right - I guess in the Middle Ages it was the accepted norm to lop people's heads off etc...
So, if you don't think you have done something wrong, believe that you were in the right to murder a few prostitutes as an example, then you wouldn't feel any guilt or carry it on your conscience.
The really interesting question is whether the difference from normal is that she stores complete information, or one of access.
Consider the possibility that everyone is retaining all that information, yet it doesn’t normally intrude. Nor can we access it all at will.
By understanding the mechanism at work in these unusual cases, we can gain insights into the normal functioning of the mind.
If it is that everyone retains everything, why don’t we have full access, or that access may be lost? Age, diseases like Alzheimer’s and the normal forgetting that most people experience might be tackled on the basis of the knowledge such unusual cases bring.
We might even learn how to get our wives to forget.

In the article it says that she has total recall from the age of 14 when they think an event triggered a change in her mind. This might suggest that we all have the recall but subconciously forget things we think are useless or painful. Things like Alzheimers may confuse the brain by making it forget any information which is the opposite of the woman in the articles position.Consider the possibility that everyone is retaining all that information, yet it doesn’t normally intrude. Nor can we access it all at will.

)People do forget most things forever. They are not stored anywere. They disappear. Only a relative few things are remembered forever and kept 'inaccessible', and may be recalled based on cues or forced recall.
Forgetting is part of the active housekeeping and the normal decay of stored memory. Memory needs ordinarily to be reinforced. My guess is that she has, consciously pr otherwise, ended up paying especially important attention to the importance of remembering itself. Like it is a basic and necessary part of her existence.
Maybe the excess memories are stored in her chin(s)?
