We've all seen the endless series of pissboilers that come from the disconnect between the government and us. There is a book out that highlights how it happened; why the "same-old, same-old" politics won't fix it; what needs to be done to fix it ... but most amazingly of all, how it can be turned around in a year! It's written by two Tories, but they actually seem to have some clear, intelligible and reasonable policy ideas. 
Hardcopy is a tenner, downloadable PDF is a fiver. I read the whole thing in one shot, it's very easy to understand, makes a good read and there is a clear plan for fixing the mess. I didn't really find anything I disagreed with (and how often can you say that about a whole year's worth of government legislation?)
