Ok, I'm ready to get flamed by the PH massive here for daring to spend less than £500 a night... But...

I'm looking for a nice hotel for a couple, for up to £100 a night. Any ideas? The OH likes shopping, walking, relaxing, etc.

Worth asking in here before I go looking myself.

Residence in Bath. A bit over your budget (I think) but a lovely place nonetheless

We went to Dorian House in Bath. That was very nice. Very elegant. Four poster for about £100.

Is the £100 inclusive of evening meal, drinks, etc?

Bit more than £100 a night, but not much. And you have to fly there (Salzburg).
Hotel Kobenzl

Nice view though:

Try Alistair Sawdays 'special places to stay' (search the site by type and location) have stayed in several in different brackets and always superb.

Also SLH (small luxury hotels) website.

You could try the Harbour Heights in Poole - it's normally over that budget but they have offers on in October/November if you stay for a few nights. Has an amazing view & a good base for doing all those things

I hold The Hotel Du Vin in Henley On Thames in fairly high regard.

No, it doesn't have to be. I've been quoted £230 for 2 nights somewhere, with Breakfast and Dinner on both nights though.

Hotel Maria Cristina

A night in there, meal, drinks and flight should come in at under 500 quid if you time it right.

If your going to Bath I like this place. Make sure you ask for the 4 poster bed room.

The Mrs went all gooey over the smelly stuff available etc. And a good breakfast.
