Just had one of thier little "Unfortunately we can't deliver your item becuase there's a fee to pay" cards through the door.
Upon closer inspection, the fee due is £1.03 which includes a £1.00 handling fee banghead so therefore who ever sent the letter to me underpaid by 3p.
When I rang the Royal Mail complaints dept and asked why it hadn't just been waived for such a pathetic amount I was told the the Royal Mail was now a profitable business and they would no longer waive fees, don't think it helped matters when I started to laugh and asked her if she saw the funny side? "No" she says it's serious matter, she didn't see the funny side when I pointed out to her that if the Royal Mail wanted to increase profits further they should waive all the 3p under charges and therefore save on card printing costs, time to write the cards out, admin costs, time for the poor chap at the sorting office to find said item, and last but not least probably about 30-40K a year buy not having to employ staff to answer the phone complaining about a 3p undercharge irked

It will only return to sender if they have an address on there.

My mother does this every year for birthday and xmas cards, drives me mad, no matter how often you tell her a small first class stamp isn't enough she still does it.

It's a classic, this is the country where the few spoil things for the many.

They use to waive the fee, then some tts abused the leniency, so now we all the pay the price - an extra £1 and the hassle of having to go and pick it up.

I had to nip down to the sorting office to pick up one of these the other day. It turned out to be from my estate agent, containing some house details. I dropped in there and pointed out that I might be interested in it if I hadn't had to pay £1.27 for the privilege of getting the details. Fair play to the guy, he gave me the money back and then said "so, do you want to view it, then?" Cheeky sod hehe

Anyway, if it had been some sort of junk mail I would have sent it back, without a stamp, but with a couple of horseshoes in it.
