The increasing use of the suffix "ation" in the language of Politics and Business is driving me insane. Can anyone enlighten me as to its correct use?

The most recent new use of this is in the word "contestation" that I read in the press today. What the hell is this supposed to mean?

A bit like Jamie Oliver's (latest) annoying addition of the suffix 'age to everything - "...sprinkle in a little bit of herbage..."

Perhaps it is you who is uneducated with a poor grasp of the English language. 'Contestation' has existed since 1580 and is a proper word.

We had some F*cktard who would, no matter how many times he were told say:

Conversate

He even thought it a real word.

One of the many, many things guaranteed to annoy me: The Mary J Bilge (typo intentional) track where she sings about "hate-eration" rage

Trouble is my wife likes the song. frown
