Mira shower warranty .........
Discussion
We spent £250 on a quality shower, Mira 8,7 ATL, with a two year manufacturers guarantee.
After a year and a week it has died, and after calling Mira direct they tell me 'Homeserve' look after their warranty work, and they have been alerted and will call us on Wednesday. And they apparently have a five day backlog on work, so we should get an appointment for an engineer to visit five days after that, maybe, probably, possibly.
So, we are stuck without a shower for a MINIMUM 8 days, and then whatever the guy decides at the time.
Is this normal service when you claim warranty on faulty goods? Is there anything I can do to speed things up, demand quicker service etc?
Would we do better buying some piece of shyte cheapie and just slinging it if it goes wrong.? This is the third Mira failure in two years, but it means chopping out tiles and such to fit a different unit.

Just had to have my Mira shower repaired last week.
It's been installed for eight years so no warranty. Rang their technical support on the Thursday and booked an engineers appointment. He rang the next morning and arrived at lunchtime.
Hour later shower fixed. In my opinion it was fantastic service. Mind you I was paying for mine.

Obviously this is an unoffical communication etc...

Call out charge, replaced the thermostatic mixer valve and all the seals including VAT came to £120.Worth every penny in my book. The shower was £500 when new (still sells for £540) so to have only spent £120 in eight or nine years is a bargain.

I rang the number, and after a lot of umming and ahhing and waiting on hold the guy told me they can't actually do anything, as they are really just the people who answer the Mira 24 hour phone service after hours A person in homeserve said:

Hmm, we will be, apparently, waiting minimum 8 days, then the engineer will find out which bits need fixing, or ordering, and, and......It's been installed for eight years so no warranty. Do you not have a tub as well? Can't you just take baths till it's fixed? Or use the old bucket in the shower? Weekend away? Week's holiday? Surely it's not that big a deal?
No, no big deal, just I spent 250 notes on a quality shower, so we'd not have to live like peasants, so I'd rather get some quality after service instead of being relegated to the "we'll get round to you eventually" department.
