I'd like to watch the footage of the boat sinking if they sink it.

Hope the spetsnaz do a better job on this than they did on the theatre hostage situation.

Always with the hits on the U.S, huh? Your agenda is more stale than cold war biscuits in a damp cave. wink

If we are guarding the "commie" tank ship, would it not be the pirates likely to take it on the nose?

How so? The Spetznas raid on the Theatre was a success beyond all that could have been hoped for.
Read up on what the situation was inside and what they were up against.

Wonder if the pirates knew what the ship was carrying when they seized it?

128 hostages killed by the "rescue", 1 Killed by a terrorist. Yup that seems like a success to me.

Who knows the way America has changed over the past few weeks? First we have Bush coming over all socialist and anti-free market by bailing out failed businesses with taxpayers money and now we have the US Navy protecting Russian arms exports to third world countries. You couldn't make it up! smile

I think it was some of Jimbaux's boys out for some more toys to keep the locals quite. With all the money GW is spending on the banks they couldn't afford to buy the tanks.

The Pirate chief issued a statement.

"If we are attacked, we will defend ourselves until the last one of us dies."

This seems like a perfectly acceptable compromise to me.

If there was a lot of ‘collateral damage’ we would all tut for about 5 minutes, then get on with shipping stuff through much safer seaways.

I doubt if there are many innocents in the area. Not all will be directly involved in piracy, but supporters, dependent upon income from, etc.

If I was the pirate chief, I would try and start the shooting now, while it’s only the Americans.

That way, a few of the wrong people will get shot by mistake.

If he waits for the Russians, everybody will get shot on purpose.

50 terorrists and 90 hostages dead. 700+ freed. As opposed to ALL dead which would have been the guaranteed outcome if the Spetznas had not intervened.

Do try and keep up at the back....

Russian Spetnaz (whichever branches ends up getting deployed) have a very poor record in Hostage rescue missions; Beslan ring a bell?

The Theatre siege was very badly handled, a view which is shared by most western analysts who've reviewed the Russians response to the situation. I can't be bothered to type chapter and verse on the subject so will use the old favourite Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_theater_hostag...

The militant leader told the hostages that the attackers (who identified themselves as a suicide squad from "the 29th Division"[8]) had no grudge against foreign nationals (about 75 in number from 14 countries, including Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States[9]), and promised to release anyone who showed a foreign passport. The Russian negotiators, however, refused to accept this offer and instead insisted that everybody be released, without any distinction between foreigners and the Russians.[10]

Casualties

At least 33 terrorists and 129 hostages died during the raid or in the following days.[50] Doctor Andrei Seltsovsky, Moscow's health committee chairman, announced that all but one of the hostages killed in the raid had died of the effects of the unknown gas rather than from gunshot wounds.[51] The cause of death listed for all hostages was declared to be "terrorism", claiming they died from heart attacks or other physical ailments.[52] Among the fatalities, 17 were Nord-Ost cast members, including two child actors.[53] Of the foreign nationals, three were from Ukraine, one was American, and the others were citizens of Austria, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.[54] About 700 surviving hostages were poisoned by gas, and some of them became invalids of the second and third category. Several Russian special forces operatives were also poisoned by the gas during the operation.

Some estimates have put the civilian death toll at more than 200,[15] with 204 names on one list.[55] Some former hostages and relatives of the victims claim that the death toll from the chemical agent is being kept secret.[52]

Funniest thing I've read all day!!

Oh by the way I've been playing the boat one on COD4 and know what to do in that situation - get loads of 7 kill streaks and let the chopper do the rest.

Latest!! Somali Government gives go ahead for foreign powers to deal with pirates. Taking bets now. Do the pirates have a mutiny and give up or do they, and the t-72s, go to the ocean floor?
