Anybody see gemstones as an investment to beat what the banks can offer, and if so what?

Loose or set? Any sources?

Also, when you sell do you have to pay tax on any profit (stupid question)?

No charts on IG so can't help, I'm afraid. I bet it was something the smart kids in the city had jumped on to avoid the dollar, though. Last year. Before they lost their jobs.
