I'm not one for allowing immigrants willy nilly, but this verdict smacks of common sense for once.

Pity it had to be decided in court due to the ungrateful penny pinching (when it comes to non votors) poo talkers that is our government. It's the least we could do.

Then got nothing to see here when I clicked your link.
Then topic closed!
Indeed a good resultclapthere was a lot of support for the Ghurkas in an earlier thread!

The veteran Gurkhas warmly paraphrase to the people of Britain the kind words written of them: 'Never had we more faithful friends than you'

that qoute needs to be tattoed on the eyelids of the faceless oxygen thieves who made it necessary for them to go to court in the first place.

Why do we have a Gurkhas regiment? I know the historical reasons why they were created but what is the point today?

Bullst. They were treated terribly and our government doesn't deserve that praise. Glad they FINALLY saw sense though.

clap

I live in Maidstone where we have loads of them. They got the biggest round of applause at a recent parade through the town welcoming them back from overseas.

Bluntly: They're cheap labor, we pay them a pittance, their families aren't allowed to join the in the UK until they've complete IIRC 4 years service so the Army doesn't have to provide family housing and care, they only fly home 2-3 times during that period.

They're incredibly dedicated indivuduals with great character, they deserve so much more. I'm moved to tears at the way the gov has treated their veterans and joyed at this result.

I've provided dental care to them in Aldershot and they show so much respect to everyone around them.
My Great-Grandad fought along side them in WW1 I'm sure he'd be horrified about their treatment if he were still alive.

Good result, common sense prevails - eventually! smile

Let them all into Britain I say.

Give them beachfront properties on the south coast where all the other would-be immigrants can see the flash of sun reflected off their kukris as they polish them every morning before going to work in the jobs we'll also give them in Immigration, Customs and the police.

Sangatte will be a ghost town within a week.

Good result that, made my day.

I am puzzled by the mindset that persisted in defending the status quo. Even the most blinkered of politicos or civil servants should be able to see the respect in which the Ghurkas are held.

Smacks of control freakery to me; " Even if I'm wrong, I'll still have my own way and stuff you!"

So they get the same terms and conditions as UK soldiers and they lose thier unique advantage and the regiment gets disbanded.

We could never recruit enough people to replace them. The PVR - premature voluntary release rate is sky high too.

Some scrounging git from wherever that has no intention whatsoever of contributing to the UK economy?

Certainly sir, sign here for your cash, house, NHS and dental benefits

Gurkha?

Going to fight for our country like so many before you, laying down your lives?

Hmmm.............not sure mate, I mean, tell me again why we ought to give you anything?

Slightly harder than the average nail really.... Double hard b***rds. They do the really, really hard work.

Thank goodness we finally have a sensible ruling, a shame the scum in Govt would rather give money to any useless waste of space who comes in on the back of a lorry (or hi-jacks a plane), than these brave men who fight for our country.
