The OH and I are looking at going away for some winter sun in the first week of November, we've seen an offer for Gran Canaria but according to weather reports they only get 6 hours of daylight at that time of year.

So does anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced alternatives or is it the same everywhere at that time of year?

Sharm El-Sheikh?

I went mid-September for a week and it was over 35 degrees each day. The sun was out just after 5:00, very warm by 8:00, then sun-down at about 17:30. Get yourself a nice 5* all-inclusive and lie by the pool all day, take a day out to do some scuba-diving, and another day out to do desert quad-biking. Much fun.

Keep your wits about you when you're outside the hotel complex, as the locals will try and sell you anything, and keep small change with you at all times. If you try and pay for a bottle of water with a tenner, they'll try their hardest to "not have any change".

Other than that, great place. smile

Went to NE spain last Nov. Blue skies, cool breezes. Nice if you are active. If you want beach lazing, go to Brazil.

slight thread hijack here - but adding to the requirements of the OP - anywhere good that is also suitable to take a 2 year old?

for my advice to the OP - we went to Cuba in december a couple of years back and it was fantastic weather wise, nice and warm and sunny. We stayed on a resort on one of the Cayos which was clean and pleasant. Good activities if you want that, or beaches and pool for relaxing.

Not particularly suitable with my 2 year old due to very long flight!

I suppose I could always give her a glass of milk (B.A. Barracas style) before the flight......

.
We're taking our 1 year-old to Hurghada. The 4 hour flight should tie in with him not being knackered/hungry and the transfer is very short.
