Recycling or eco-nazi behaviour?

I wanted to bag up smokeless coal into old supermarket carriers so that I get no mess whilist trying to stoke the stove.

When I mentioned this to a 'green' friend they suggested they would rather I kill their children because it releases toxix thingies.

I could use paper bags but would have to buy them and get them shipped with all those nasty carbon miles.

releasing the partially melted/burnt plastic bags up your chimney/flume could well cause long term problems such as blockages....

And yes would release undesirable toxins.

Plus it stinks.
Why don't supermarkets leave out cardboard boxes for us to 'recycle' like they do in Europe?

But they had no idea what, presumably?

Because it may or may not be a fire hazard, allegedly.

Cardboard is 50 pound a ton upwards, why else do you think the supermarkets dont leave out the boxes for us?? All gets compacted and sold.

The mistake you're making here is having a 'green' friend.

They used to all the time until recently, i remember at Tesco they piled them up along the wall behind the checkouts. Do doubt a health and safety risk rolleyes . shame because i found them really useful.

I doubt that an ordinary 'household' fire would burn plastic bags 'clean'; not hot enough. Which chemicals, and how toxic is another story, but I wouldn't want to, say, cook food over burning plastic.

Obviously, what you do to your idiot's kids is between you two... hehe
