"Stardust" - a little gem
Discussion
(I did a search and there was a thread about this film ages ago, but it quickly degenerated into a discussion about the breastage of Ms Clare Danes...)
I recently picked up a dirt-cheap HD DVD drive for my 360 and trawled the net for some (ludicrously) cheap HD DVDs to go with it.
Saw "Stardust" on Play.com and ordered it. Thing is, I actually thought it was a completely different film - some sci-fi romp about a journey to the sun or something. When it arrived I read the blurb on the back and thought "Fairy tale? Falling star? Witchcraft? This ain't the film I thought it was!"
But, I put it on anyway (just to test the picture quality, you understand - which was stunning, by the way) and was instantly drawn into this brilliant little film. Sat there for the entire duration, totally engrossed by it. Funny, clever, touching and with some brilliant little cameos (Robert De Niro was fantastic as the fearsome - but secretly gay - pirate and Ricky Gervais was, well Ricky Gervais).
And I will also admit to getting a little misty-eyed by the end - the "being obsessed by the unobtainable and missing what's right in front of your eyes" message was spookily relevant.
So, thoroughly recommended for a very enjoyable hour-and-a-bit's entertainment.

You were after "Sunshine", sunshine.I first saw this film by accident too (actually it was on a flight back from Kazakhstan) and the plane was full of construction folk. I found it really entertaining and really enjoyed it.
The funny thing was that we were descending into Schipol during the last five minutes and you could see the look of anger on all the blokes faces as the pilot talked over the final bit of the film...
I too bought it on DVD...
