Yesterday I moved £12k to my current account from savings, intending to pay off my contract plan on the car. Less than an hour later the bank rang. Nothing about security, just making sure it wasn't transitting to another bank or under my bed. Last year I shipped considerably more completely out of a bank and it was only when I called them almost a year later and they tried to sell me savigs accounts that they realised the money was gone.

I won't name the bank in case I set off a rumour but at least you can assured of a prompt service with your savings from now on it, unlike the debacle with ISA transfers in April this year.

How times have changed.

They don't want the start of a run on their capital as that WILL cause them to fall, if enough creditors do it.
