I was just wondering what you all though of Howard Stern? Is he big over the pond, or is it just someone you know of through all the media attention?

I only ask because since I go Sirius Satellite radio, I listen to him in the morning. I hadly ever did before when he was on regular radio because I felt he was lending to the degredation of America, being that he is an immoral SOB. But as I get older I find myself loosening up a bit and trying to go with the flow. I now have to listen every morning and his show sometimes has me laughing out loud. The other day i was laughing so hard I had to pull over because tears were making it very hard to drive. Every morning his staff plays a prank call they recorded the day before, here is the one that had me laughing so hard I was crying. At the time I found it to be hysterical, but it may not be that funny to you guys, since you all have a warped sense of humor LOL j/k wink

Damn, I cant find i right now. I have it saved at my home. I will post later.

He's the DJ that Chris Moyles desperately, desperately tries to be. But fails.

Please, Moyles is a legend whenever I've listened to him.

Very funny guy. I like it when he gets hookers in on his show to perform indecent acts infront of him....there should be more of that on Radio 2 in the morning!;)

He's a main stream US shock jock.

Very amusing film (Private Parts) made about his rise to fame (which also stars him and his assorted sidekicks) - worth a viewing:

I don't really agree with that - I'm not defending Moyles, but Stern is a shock jock who's made a career around constantly pushing the limits of the level of sexual material he can broadcast. Moyles doesn't try or pretend to do any of that.

Chris Evans seemed to be more of a Stern Lite when he did the R1 breakfast show, often in trouble for guest swearing etc, nothing as outrageous as Stern but pushing the limits of what was acceptable in the UK.

I dunno. I used to listen to Stern's old stuff when I first got an interweb here at the meat-retreat.

Moyles can't do the sexual gubbins because he works for the Big British Castle. But there seemed to be a 'borrowing' of some facets of Stern's output as he needed to fill more hours of broadcast time. Then it was sanitised down to breakfast show levels of acceptability.

The day that Stern went live on Sirius I had a receiver in my car. Sirius also gets you BBC R1 so I got to listen to Chris Moyles... he sucks.
