my mate just asked me if I had a loan, and told me about these people....
Seems too good to be true.
What does PH think?

I suggest you look here under the faq to see how they'll stiff you.
I suspect many people, after stumping up the fee, will receive a nice "I'm sorry but in your particular case we are unable to help any further" letter. Nice that they'll be further in debt than before.
I would avoid like the plague.

Well, I don't think it is so cut and dried. Though the ACT has very rigid stipulations for what information must be presented and how it is to be presente, variations form theis doesn't totally make a credit agreement unenforcable.
I think there is quite a bit of discretion for the court to enforce an agreement even where there is a problem with it.

Why would you try to get out of a loan you had agreed?
What if you found out that instead of charging you interest of 14.5% per annum they'd made a 'simple computer error' with all thier customers accounts and charged them 15.5% per annum. On 10 million accounts.
Over a 10 year period.
And failed to rectify it?
Do you actually check your balance to see that the ammount actually charged is what was in your agreement?
