Having just experienced Halloween early at PortAventura, I was very impressed with the level of detail in the costumes and props etc.. It was more of a carnival type atmosphere..
I'm not a great lover of it to be honest, but this year I intend to make an effort.
Anyone else prepared to give it a go and 'decorate up' ? Beats having to keep up with the Jones's and put the Christmas lights up on the 1st November

I'm all for events and making an effort. I thoroughly enjoy bonfire night, all the family gets together, big bowls of hot chilli, marshmallows and lots of fully grown men getting to play with fire.
However, Halloween has always been aimed at primary school kids, wandering around with parents at 6pm.
I've now realised the kids love it (as did I as a nipper) and therefore i'm going to decorate up the house a bit and make an effort to have a big bucket of treats as i'm feeling all generous.

This year, as I do every year, I shall be disguising myself as someone that is not at home!
My costume will consist of locking the door, closing the curtains, turning off the lights and pretending to be deaf!
Me too! My costume will consist of locking the door, closing the curtains, turning off the lights and pretending to be deaf!
Why should strangers knock on my door, demand treats and harrass me if I don't give them any?
Alternatively, I might teach the local brats not to accept gifts from strangers this year - now what evil things can I put in the sweet tin... [she says menacingly before throwing her head back with evil laughter]

"MUUUM! WHATS ON MY HAND?! AAH! AAH! AAH! AAH!"
"Have a nice halloween
" <Close door>
I truly loathe Halloween. Or rather - what it has become. It used to be an excuse for a family party, a bit of dressing up for the little ones, bobbing for apples, eating buns off strings with your hands bahind your back and making lanterns from turnips - in those days pumpkins were not available!
Now it seems to be an excuse for teenages to demand money with menaces.
Around our way it's a good area. It's only the little ones, escorted by their parents, that come begging for treats. And then they ONLY come to houses all lit up with lanterns and decorations that are obviously happy to welcome them with a few sweets.
We usually switch the lights off, lock up and go down to the pub...and aren't bothered.
In other places people are less lucky. Broken windows, scratched cars, eggs and flour everywhere.
Fire up the Mosquito and drive them bonkers.

All you need is some pre-prepared Brussell Sprouts coated in Chocolate. The little ones love 'em!
That's absolutely superb
I might get some spiders out of the shed, put them in a box with the sprouts, for the older kids.

It's actually real. Made in Wales. Emits a high pitched whine that creates an increasing sense of irritation in people under twenty or so.
Come to think of it it's the perfect Halloween prank. Imagine it: The dark house, the increasing sense of dread, an awful whining in your ears you can't quite believe is real, and THEN
BLAMMYSPLOSH!
The wee-filled supersoaker hits you square in the mush.
Nice!
Apple bobbing. Gives me a great idea. This year I'll put a large oil drum outside the front door; fill it 3/4 full of water and throw a few apples in.
Then when the little feckers come begging, i'll make sure they get 'a decent shot' at getting an apple by holding them face down in it for, ohh say 15 minutes.
Should be less of the feckers next year that way.

This post may be entirely in jest, and would the lady from up the road who dreses as a very sexy witch, PLEASE visit me this year; without her children. I have a real treat for her.
