Just received this email, now two things are amiss. First neither my wife or I have a Lloyds account, the Lloyds Bank logo is at the top of the page. Second the email is sent to an ntlworld address, I'm on btinternet confused

The "begin verification" is a link on the email.

"We were unable to verify your account information during our regular database
verification process. This might be due to one or more of the following reasons:

1. A recent change in your personal information (i.e change of phone number).

2. Submitting invalid information during initial enrollment process.

3. Inability to accurately verify your account information due to an internal error
within our database management system.

We would require the renewal of your records to forestall a re-occurence of any
future problems with your online service. However, failure to update your records
might result in your account being suspended. Please note that your updating of
information, will not interrupt your services.
Begin verification

Thank you. "

That is a scam that has been around for years. Paypal suffers the same thing. Just ignore it and don't reply. Maybe send a copy of it including the properties to Lloyds and let them deal with it.

I've had them from just about every bank I don't bank with. I just delete them unread.

I must get half a dozen per day in my personal email account.

The only thing that I would say is new (to me, anyway) is that I've started getting them "from" BT, saying there's a problem with my account.

Is there a way to visit and supply the sender with a load of bogus time wasting information without compromising any of my information?

The standard advice seems to be copy and paste the link into a browser window, rather than clicking the link. Can we all take a few minutes each to flood them?

Waste of time - they send millions of them out and couldn't care less.

Deleted it pretty much straight away. I think the way to stop them is to make people aware of the scams, if it don't work they won't bother, or is that just expecting too much?

Always interesting to compare the link in the text with the web address that appears at the bottom of the screen. Some are vaguely similar, others are completely different.

Ebay/Paypal make a big point of saying that emails from them will be addressed to you by name.

Yep. Most Banks have a section for e-mailing them these sorts of messages.

Anything that says it's come from any bank I just delete without looking at it.
