Hello!

Gonna be working near Fenchurch Street for a while so need somewhere to live, been looking on the net but was hoping someone with local advise could warn me where to live/avoid

Criteria

- Max £800 a month rent, less the better as saving for mortage deposit is priority.
- decent size 1 bedroom considered or 2 bedroom flat, happy to live a little out as can have people visit
- Within 30 mins travel to one of: Tower Hill/Fenchurch Street/Monument
- travel to Leeds or Brum for weekends once a month so decent train links
- parking bonus but not essential

Even in clapham, my 2 bed would be closer to 1300-1400 a month and that aint central, for a single its usually about 1k per month.

Only dives are cheaper in the area and they are usually ex council.

Leytonestone is £800 p/m - area is rough but very convenient for commuting into the City.

Also caught this. So you know:
- They ask you to make a money transfer (through Western Union). The transfer is not to them, but to a trusted friend of yours, to prove you can do it.
- Somehow (I wasn't really listening), the phish your details and drain your account.

I'm a Lettings Agent for a firm near Colindale tube station on the Northern Line. We rent one bedroom flats for around £800 PCM and two bedroom flats for around £950 PCM. Give me a shout if you're interest in something in that area.

With that sort for budget you'll definately be looking at a house share and you'll be looking at zone 3. What kinds of things are you looking for? Use of a garden, lots of parks/open spaces, storage for a bike, <5mins to a tube, etc?

Clean, close to work mon-thurs, weekends will be up North. Space would be useful sso could get accomodate visitors which would make it more fun.

My main advice would be GO EAST!!!!

Its so much cheaper, i live out towards City Airport, and although its not cheap, its definately cheaper than anywhere else this close to the city.

Try Canning Town, Galleons Lock, Beckton and similar areas, may not be the best, but you should get parking, easy access to the City, and won't cost the earth.

Graham Park or the Bird estate?

OP - they're perfect examples of places to avoid

You can get a decent flat in Kingston for around the £800 mark. (Yes I know it's south of the river and all that). Train into Waterloo takes around 20-25 minutes. I lived there for four years. Richmond Park is great, just around the corner

Hi mate,

Docklands is decent for you- only about 35-40 mins on the DLR, and a quick switch at Limehouse for the C2C train gets you into Fenchurch.

Limehouse, Royal Docks etc in the Docklands is decent and affordable.

Any chance of a look at what you would call decent? £800 for a semi-decent flat in Kingston sounds very cheap.....

...a cheap one bed maybe, but no chance of a two bed.

Should have said it was a one bed flat. Was paying £850 for a converted ground floor flat on Elm Road. It was an end terrece house. Even had a garden. Lovely quiet area. Wish I was still there sometimes. Miss running in the park. frown
