Off for a bit of a short break to a bit of Italy I've never seen, so quite excited. We are based out of Panicale in Umbria so looking for anyone who knows the area to give some tips.

Orvieto looks lovely, I'm currently mainly basing my research on the pics on wikipedia. It has some caves and a elaborate looking well, which is nice.

Was in Orvieto last week and it is absolutely beautiful and well worth a decent visit.

Another place worth a visit, but can't remember if its in Umbria, is Castiglione di Something. Its just north of Florence and is about 5-6 miles from the A1. Exit on the A1 is Ronchobilio or something like that.

Castiglione Dei pepoli, Roncobilaccio, Emilia-Romagna?

Cheers, Orvieto is on the list I think, as a few people have said how nice it is. Montepulciano, will check out the map.
