The Missing payment HSBC part 2
Discussion
Some of you may remember a post i put up on here a while ago regarding my missing cheque. The short of it was i paid in a cheque on the 26th of August, it went missing and i've still not had anything.
I called HSBC regarding this, time and time again, being assured that the case was being looked into and the payment would be recovered and put on my credit card, which it should have been well over a month ago!
I called again last week to find out what the problem was, after giving them all the info 2 weeks after it went missing in the first place, like the cheque number and the reference number, luckily i kept the recipt for this!
Anyway, yesterday i received a letter from HSBC, asking me to take a copy of the front and the rear of the cheque and send it to them.
Er yes, thats right, they want me to send them a photo copy of the cheque that they lost!!! what the f
k? do they think i have a spare duplicate one or something?
Im not usually an angry person but i'm f
king fuming, its a total joke, i just feel like i've been messed about from day one. I'm totaly sick of it now.
Luckily i have a PH'er fighting in my corner on the inside, which helps alot so i've not lost all hope fo getting it back just yet.
I'm seriously considering changing banks now once i've transfered the balance from my HSBC card to my capitol one card i think i will, then claim back the last 4 years worth of charges at the same time.

Useless aren't they!? They just switched my grad account back to a normal account for the second time and charged me interest on my overdraft (it's supposed to be interest free). Look's like another saturday will be spent queuing in the hope of fixing it.
My dad also recently had a problem with them, well actually it was their problem, it's just that he noticed it. Basically they were deducting funds from someone's personal account that happened to have the same name as one of the authorised signatories on dad's business account. They then expected him to jump through hoops to fix it!!

I used to think they where great, however recently, after charging me £50 every now and again for my overdraft which is agreed, then putting charges on here and there and now this missing payment and the way they have dealt with it has really pissed me off.
I mean seriously, asking for a copy of the cheque they have lost, not even a propper spaz is stupid enough to ask that question.
I now feel that my bank is totally retarded and i dont want to have to deal with this again so i think a change is on the cards.
My only saving grace is the PH'er who's pulling out all the stops to help me get it sorted, with out him they'd probably get away with it.

Well, it's not that hard is it? You ask whoever wrote the cheque (in this case your employer wasn't it?) to get a copy of the cheque from their bank. The fact is your bank don't believe you've put a cheque in to be processed - of course they're not just going to give you the cash because you've got an honest face
Actually, now I've thought about it... that assumes the cheque has been cashed. Has it? Or has it really just gone missing, in which case why can't your employer write a new cheque for you to put in and cancel the missing one.

I recently moved from HSBC to RBS. RBS haven't been faultless, but being able to 1) call your branch or 2) call a callcentre in the UK and speak to someone that understands more than just prompts on a computer or 3) getting a reply from a letter within 3 days... Bliss.

SO, the payment has been taken from my employer's account, but its not been paid onot my card, or my bank account.
they want a copy of the actual cheque which they have lost. I cant get this.

So my initial post was right then. It's only a phonecall from the cheque writer to get a copy of the cheque put in the post. FWIW I had to do a pile of HSBC business cheques from about 3 years ago when I lost the cheque stubs and the bank statements just showed cheque number and amount. One phone call, reel off a list of cheque numbers and a pile of photocopies were in my mitts 3 days later (though they said it could take up to 14 days). I haven't got them here but they had a series of numbers across the front and back which I presume would allow them to track the actual transaction that took place - in other words, where the money actually went.SO, the payment has been taken from my employer's account, but its not been paid onot my card, or my bank account.

Is this the first 'thing' that as ever happened to you Mclovin?
I understand your frustration, as does everyone, because each day we are faced with such irritations in adult life. All of us. Each day.
The point is it would never even occur to me to run onto the internet and post a detailed saga of every irritating thing that happened to me. My whole life would be taken up by telling stragers my stories of woe (that arent really stories of woe).
So they lost a cheque. Big s
t. It happens all the time. Every bank does it.
Deal with it and get on with your life.
I guarantee that the phrase "a problem shared is a problem halved" does not apply here.

Quite literally, if its not of interest to you there is no need to post is there? However some how you feel compelled to post, on anything and everything you think your opinion is valued on. Ask your employer for a copy of the cheque. They can contact their bank and get either the original or a copy fairly quickly.SO, the payment has been taken from my employer's account, but its not been paid onot my card, or my bank account.

The cheque will then show what account HSBC paid it into as they generally print the details on the front or back.

If it's actually gone from your employer's account can't his bank see where it's been paid into?Bets are there was a detail wrong on the cheque and it's sitting in a suspense account somewhere...SO, the payment has been taken from my employer's account, but its not been paid onot my card, or my bank account.

Quite literally that is a stupid thing to say..
By your rationale, nobody should post anything in here unless it is a fact, because if it is merely opinion then "who are (they) to say...."
Thats what forums are: places for people to engage in banter and spout opinions.
You, my little gay friend, need to lighten up a little.
