Probably quite common in work for many of you, even in these modern times but this morning,I received an email from a work colleague containg a joke which I thought was offensive. This guy sends out a few emails every week, some harmless (depending on your point of view) and some quite inappropriate. The email today was something Bernhard Manning and fans of, would get a laugh out of. I know the guy who sends out the mails fairly well and if I am honest, I have never in the past asked him to remove me from his mailing list. I read them then always delete them. But the joke today pushed the limits and I think I should do something about it. Jokes don't hurt until they are about you, right?
I work for a large company and they do have procedures in place to deal with this type of issue. A complaint can be lodged confidentially. I'm just wondering am I being contradictory in complaining about these email when I have choosen to ignore the others, mostly because they didn't offend me. Should I set my email app to auto-delete emails from him and not push further? Or should I pursue? I'm not looking for a scrap, I don't want his head on a plate but I very annoyed by his email and I don't think I should let it go. confused

Thanks

Gylen

Get over it.

Do you really want to be the boring fart who went to HR?

Unless of course it was about paedophelia or other such like matters just delete his emails in future.

why was it offensive to you? why were the others not? i'd probably just ignore it, if most of the jokes he sends are worth reading that's more than adequate is it not?

Well, if you don't want his head on a plate, just email him directly - don't 'officially complain'

Grow a spine.

FFS.

Actually no, go ahead and complain, then when it turns out you've been receiving them for ages, and have doubtless forwarded them on, you can get the sack as well.

Jesus.

go to him quietly and tell him you dont appreciate it, that you wont make an issue of it this time but you suggest he doesnt send these out in future.

Dont grass him up.
Tell him (via email so you have proof) that you find some of the jokes offensive.

If you found it offensive, then some other PC freak will no doubt find another one in the future not to their taste. So, I say have a quiet word with him warning him as a colleague that he should be more careful as people are jumpy nowadays. I'm sure he values his job more than he values a few titters from his acquaintances. No need to go official.

I want to read the joke too! Then we can pass judgement if you're gayer or not.

I wouldn't even put myself that far into his firing line.

Just drop him an email saying that you're probably a party-pooper but you'd rather not be on his joke email list
