I'm a bit shocked frankly.

Some dozy git drove into the side of my car on Monday morning, only a little scrape, car still perfectly drivable, more an inconveniance than anything.
Contacted insurance and started the claim procedure, went through all the usual crap on the phone, then the insurance call centre woman asked if I was feeling any ill effects, aches or pains. No, I'm fine I replied.

Then they put me through to a hire car company despite me explaining I had an approved repairer who I'd like to use who would supply a loan car for the duration of the repair if required. They insisted though.

Told this company the same thing..don't need a car from you as it's already covered. Still insisted on taking my details etc.

Then this morning the legal arm of my insurers rings again to ask if I had any aches pains and so on. It feels like they're trying to encourage fraud. Do they honestly think if I was genuinely hurt that I wouldn't have told them?

To top it off, hire car company rings me about half an hour later telling me what cars I could have and how it won't cost me a penny blah blah blah.

Is it any wonder premiums are so high with insurers encouraging people to have hire cars they don't need and basically inciting people to commit fraudulant personal injury claims?

I can't remember this being the case the last time I made a claim, albeit 10 years ago.
How much is this all costing, for the people making the phone calls etc, let alone if I had taken them up on any of their "kind offers"

Just confirms what I've thought about insurance companies for a long time now. Legalised organised criminals.
