When I lived there between 2001 and 2002 you couldn't buy it anywhere, yet it was widely available in the UK and Switzerland (at least).

Whether it was illegal or there was just no demand for it is another story though, the French aren't into getting p*ssed, and if they were they wouldn't drink Vodka Redbulls!

Nonsense. 3 trillion in a year would mean that everyone on earth was drinking ~40 cans of Red Bull a day. I think it was probably 3 billion!

They were trying to ban it when they 1st brought it across from the Orient. Gerhard Berger used to drink it before every race. They thought it was alcoholic until they tested it. Then it was allowed in shops around Europe.

There is word that Red Bull is dangerous, 2 cans exceed the weekly caffine in take for an average man.

There's only 80mg of caffiene in a can; that's less than a good coffee (~100mg for strong filter coffee). The word that it's dangerous is bks - it's the same as drinking some really sugary coffee or a couple of cans of coke.

It was until very recently. I bought a can over there in August though - taste the same as the UK stuff.
