A question for any contractors working through an agency, any industry.

Does your agency give you a Christmas bonus, vouchers, bottles etc.... anything?

Doing some research for a company i'm working with.

Thanks.

Not for me. Just a great rate, public holiday and 25 days paid holiday.

Having workied at a few agencies, I reckon you can prob expect a Christmas Party and card but thats probably about it. We always prefer to do a lunch / beers on every extension and take teams we've got a few people in out for an evening every so often...

not a bad idea, at least it shows effort on the agencies behalf.

Good grief, you lot are lucky!

I've been with around 4 different I.T agencys over a variety of Xmas periods and havent had jack st of any of them

Prior to starting contract I can remember friends that were taken out regularly for drinks and meals, those days seem long gone

Though some of the ones I've dealt with I doubt I'd want to socialise with anyway, unless their budget was high enough to utterly take the piss

I wish theyd just concentrate more on building a decent relationship up

Health and safety standards prevent me from eating at the same table as recruitment consultants.

the agency i'm working with isn't huge, but has a very good reputation in the industry and with the guys they supply.

They don't tend to have the time to do drinks/parties etc, and wanted to get an idea of what is expected/appreciated by contractors at times like Xmas.

Do you think £10/£20 for a beers at Thresher or whatever would go down well?

As I'm looking for a new contract I love any and all recruitment agencies. They're all fabulous and have wonderful, helpful people who will do anything to get another mug through the door and earn some dosh help you find that next job.

mine takes me out to give his credit card a good kicking on the beers and meal out somewhere decent a couple of times a year. (hakkasan last time).

however, i'm in a relatively unusual situation where i need to know my own billing rate, so it's fair to say he can afford it!

The only time I ever got a gift from an agency was when I was hiring from them in my position.. but then I wasn't allowed to keep the gift (carton of wine) because I was a contractor myself!! frown

My agent hired a room in a local pub and put on free drinks and a hot buffet.

Fantastic night out and good to meet the faces on the other end of the phone

Sometimes, well once, got a bottle of wine, once or twice been taken out for lunch, that's all.
