We're planning on selling our house and I need to get a HIP done - the estate agent is quoting me about £400 to get it done.

Overlooking the fact that I think it's a crock... Is it best to go with the Agent or get someone else in to do it?

I've also read that you can pull it together yourself, but I haven't got time for that and you still need someone "qualified" in to assess the house anyway...

Any advice?

(Is anyone around North Lincs that can do it for me?? smile)

Complete waste of money though!

£240+vat.

Agent is stitching you up like a kipper.

Have a word with your solicitors. i am sure they have a provider in place who will charge less than your agent is saying.

Don't bother doing a 'home' one unless it is more than 1 property. The cost saving is small beer and not worth the time and hassle.

We got a free one on our house which we wangled into the deal.

The hip was done 3 days after putting on the market.

It was only made available about 4 days before we completed on the sale.

No one looked at it.

I've just gone to www.hiptogo.com and before I pay - Has anyone else used them and are they reliable (and are they going to take my money and run off to the sunset?)

So long as you are talking about hip2go, and not hiptogo as written above you will be fine. We have ordered 250+ through them in the last year.
