ITV have shown adverts for C4&C5 tonight... why?

Surely, even if they are being paid more than the going rate for the 30 seconds or whatever this would be offset by the number of viewers they lose during the advertised period... or am I missing something obvious here?

I've noticed this, but the other way round, adverts for the C4 series "The Family" on ITV...

They do get paid for every advert they show - and ITV are desperate for money, hence the stories about them giving up their PSB privilege. Place your best now - how long before ITV1,2,3,4 disappear to be replaced by Skirgin or Vy ?

But if you were going to spunk money on advertising with ITV would you really consider it during a time they are advertising for other channels. The company would lose exposure that way.

Does anybody watch ITV3/4? Apart from the BTCC but I am sure they could fit that in on ITV1/2

ITV and C4 used to routinely announce each others programming in the early 90s, in the same way that BBC One does with 2,3 and 4 now.

That's my point - I reckon they're so short of cash they'll run ads for anything - even their competitors, and to hell with the consequences. Who actually watches ads anyway ? That's why PVRs were invented.
