His PR people clearly want us to feel sorry for him, You know, the miscarriage, the blindness. Oh poor Gordon.

Is that big enough? I thought it had to be 36 and above for him to read.

'Rugby accident' - somehow I doubt the accident bit, personally I'd have kept right on kicking.

FFS, we've had all this already. And the kiddie.

Every damned reason imaginable has been trotted out (twice) to make us feel sorry for him. But, fundamentally, he's an unelected PM, an ex- incompetent chancellor, and a coward. We've got little choice other than waiting for the next election, so why rub it in? As for lobbing a Lordship at Mandelson...

This has been known for many years - it was his fear of going blind in the not too distant future that made him increasing irritated by Blair's delay in stepping down.

Looks like he only got the job as HR had to be politically correct and couldn't refuse the blind tt with the blue badge.

I'd say they were getting the public ready for a new PM. Quitting because you're blind is better than quitting because you're so unpopular you can't win the next election.
