I am flying out from Heathrow Airport (Terminal 5) next week, and need to sort out some parking. Where is the best place to park, that will be safe enough for 6days, and not a nightmare to get to?! My flight leaves at 11am, so i will get there at about 8 i think. I hear that for some you hand in your keys, which i dont really want to do.

Any pointers would be good, and yes i know it might be a bit of a stupid question! smile

I've used Purple Parking, and Airparks before and not had any problems.

You do have to leave your keys and let them park it for you though, which bothered me the first time, but they seem to treat the cars ok (They just drive them to a parking space and leve it there till you come back0

Get somebody to drop you off and pick you up.

Manchesteer monkeys ripped the electric seat switch off a Merc recently...

Whatever you do, dont use Q Park. I work next to them and I can guarantee they will rag the nuts off your car from cold.

I would use the Long Term NCP car park on the Perimter Road. Purchase your parking as far in advance as possible to get cheapest price. Park next to a fence so you limit your exposure to idiots denting your car.

NCP is best in my opinion as you take your keys with you (just dont loose them on holiday!)

Some clever bod has created a "Valet Mode" for my car, where you can set a rev limiter dependent upon whether you do certain things with the car on pre-ignition before you start it.

Don't do them and the ECU won't let the car rev past 3,000 rpm. Enough to pootle around conservatively, but certainly no fun for any prospective joy rider.

Still not sure I'd leave my car and keys with any parking monkey, though.

Get an executive car hire company to drop you off and pick you up.

No need to worry about traffic, your car, or buses to the airport!

Book a hotel the night before, and get the parking included. No rush in the morning, and no chance of missing your flight if (if?) there's a jam on the M25.
