I have a friend who thinks he is a great 'entrepreneur' and he has just told me he has come up with a plan to import penguins into London and sell them to restaurants. He was on some fishing boat (which is his main job) in the south atlantic and he said there are loads of them just lying about the place? So now he wants to hire a boat and fill it up with penguins and bring them back here to sell. I told him I don't even think people eat penguins here. This is after his last 'great idea' failed where he imported some of those rickshaw things to start his own taxi company even though he lives in the countryside in Devon rolleyes

I think you will find that peguins are a protected species, not to metion that most people wouldn`t eat it anyway because they are seen as cute and cuddly creatures by most.

Your mate sounds brilliant!

I think you can do something with penguin blubber, but not sure about the rest, ask Gordon Ramsay.

Did this friend taste said flightless birds?

If not, he has no business attempting to sell them.

Also, they may prove difficult to freeze for the journey home.

I asked this at a visit to a penguin sanctuary in New Zealand. Very rare penguins they were. 30minute presentation followed by "Does anybody have any questions they'd like to ask?"

me (being an arse): "Yes, I have two. How fast can they fly and what do they taste like?" Half the people laughed and the rest weren't impressed.

That's what I heard too ... (town)pigeon * is meant to be equally revolting as well.

Oli. (Awaits the arrival of pigeon to protest his tastiness.)
* - As opposed to woodpigeon.
