I work two jobs to tide over my living expenses. And Recently came off my contract for my weekend job, but still working similar hours, just got an email off HR saying they've calculated over the last few months or so they've overpaid me by £400 - roughly £100 a month. They've now asked for me to pay it all back to them - they are reluctant to provide me proof on paper that this is what I owe and would find it hard to do so as they are the most unorganised dipsh*ts I've ever known.
Quite simply I can't afford to pop out £400 at them, and I can't afford even month installments of £40 or for them to take £40 out of my wages. So looks like I'm looking for a third job. B
cks!

You need to get this in writing from this HR Department, they are not supposed to just claw back money from you as and when they feel like it.Quite simply I can't afford to pop out £400 at them, and I can't afford even month installments of £40 or for them to take £40 out of my wages. You have to insist that you have something in writing, otherwise you could be paying out money for a long time just because of a verbal "agreement". There should be an end date as well as a start date, and an agreed amount to pay back the money owed, (if that really is the case).
If they are still reluctant, I would take it further and seek legal help - citizens advice etc.?

Surely you check your payslips?
I do but over the last month we've had reimbursements and a slight payrise + the hours I do and what they try and tell me I've done often don't quite match.cougargirl said:

But honestly, it's not your money, is it? Pay it back!

You're entitled to that, really.

I will quite happily pay them back what I owe them but I won't pay them back what I have earnt and they just hope I won't pick up on the fact they've over estimated. Their main argument is the rota doesn't match my timesheets, when they're the ones that always call me in last minute so of course its not gonna be on the p*ssing rota! lol grrr! But honestly, it's not your money, is it? Pay it back!

Forgetting this whole HR storm for a minute, is that you in that faceparty link?
Hmmm. Clicked on that link and you profile states that you are "rakin in the moulah", yet you say in your earlier post that you can't afford to pay back £40 per month? Edited by B.J.W on Tuesday 14th October 12:35
