I've noticed on this site that when it comes to discussing the UK that people who own or aspire to owning a large screen TV are often labelled chavs etc etc.

"Plasma TV's, new cars and 2 weeks in Spain is the measure of lifes qualities"

A quote from another thread tonight, not having a go at whoever posted that but I often find it curious that it seems that anybody who owns a Plasma is labelled as such.

I quite agree that people on the dole should not be living in a lap of luxury but surely people who work hard and want something nice in life shouldn't be 'mocked'.

Im afraid ive only got the 42 inches.

And for all of those that dont like them.............when you are bored of watching on yout stty little telly, feel free to come and watch from through my window.

Never had much hostility to be honest, like most things in life the people who claim to resent them cannot afford them, hence the hatred.

Because its a chavy thing to do. Like shopping in Aldi, Lidl, Kwicksave et al.

You guys didn't buy your new tellys from Brighthouse did you?

Keep it below 26" please.

Aye and it's MASSIVE biggrin

I just find it a strange thing that it seems to have become a default sgging off for whenever a 'scrounger' thread is brought up.

The way I read those comments wasnt anything to do with the TV itself, it was the "havent got the money but I'll spend someone else's" mentality

Sounds like a spot on quote blown out of proportion tbh, read it again, its surely aimed at people who rinse credit to afford larger TV's and 58 plate cars but neglect the simple things that affect ones quality of life?

Nope shopping in Aldi/ Lidl is financially prudent for certain items. Taking the piss out of these places is kind of contradicting your point about Brighthouse. Buying stuff from Brighthouse isn't prudent, not wasting money unneccesarily is.

I play computer games, enjoy movies and watching sports, a 26 inch just wouldn't cut it. I find our 32" is too small at the moment, it's only a matter of time until we get a 47 or 50 incher in. This is another area of life where size really does matter!

Not necessarily the T.V. that's the problem but the lobotomised gibbons whos only goal in life is to get a massive T.V. then sit there watching Jeremy Kyle on it all day, paid for by our money. That's the way I see it anyway.

IMO, big telly's are both hideous & pointless. There is nothing worth watching on telly that warrants a huge screen. That is coupled with the fact that a TV dominating the lounge speaks volumes about priorities

What's wrong with wanting to watch a high-definition film on a large screen?

I shop at Aldi, and my 50" plasma sits in the back room next to the log burner, wired up to the 360 and 5.1 surround. Oh cosy nights smile
