The branch local to me was unhelpful and uninterested when we looked to rent 3 years ago. I vowed never to use them again at that point.

In an industry like lettings where margins are particularly tight, now that every sales agent in the country has moved into lettings to try and keep their heads above water, I'd avoid like the plague.

If, however, you have experience, contacts etc, go for it but don't bother wasting money on a franchise, just do it yourself.

We are a letting agents, and every tom dick and harry estate agent are jumping in as the sales are dead. Trouble is they are all doing stupid commission rates which are unencomical to get the business. Even then we have had 2 EA who did a bit of letting go bust.

Lettings take a long time to come on stream and pay any decent money. Once its there its quite stable. - or it was, getting a bit worried the larger ones arnt moving.

In the last 2 weeks the avaialabilty of new tenants has dried up particulary for the larger houses ie £1000 +. Small one are fine.

I think you will see more and more larger houses available and not shifting and thus the LA who are into the big houses will suffer and lay off staff.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Superlightr

No I am not.
Had Property up for rent then gave them a Key but they found tenant and messed both parties around.
Now Agency will not return Key when formally requested.

They may not want to post the keys back to you - security issues etc, but have you been in to collect the keys. They should not refuse to give back the keys in person.

We wont post keys either btw.

keep us posted
