I sell drawing boards in my spare time on ebay but the cost of ebays final value fees has gone up and has stung me an extra couple of quid per item all in. Where else could I sell these without setting up my own expensive website as I am getting fed up with ebays rip off style?

Probably a stupid question but do you make them yourself or buy wholesale and sell on?

Just if you make them there yourself there are quite a few handmade sites out there you could try.

Failing that I believe Ebid is the most mentioned, but it's very small at the moment.

www.ebid.co.uk but as said, it's tiny compared to eBay. But if we ALL use it...

At least it's free to list so you have nothing to lose by trying smile

no dont make them myself get an order and then contact factory to dispatch to customer.

ebid sounds good will give it a try.

still making a profit through ebay but now making about 20% less per board sale despite a price rise compared to a year ago.

I looked at Amazon for selling some unwanted books but couldn't find their charges.

You don't pay to list, just after the item is sold.

From the Amazon site:-

Individuals selling at Marketplace pay a GBP 0.86 per item completion fee, plus a closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (11.5% for Electronics & Photo items) for each item sold.

More info:-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.h...

They do set the delivery charges for you though and sometimes that can be restrictive.

The %ages are much higher than ebay or an ebay shop. The postal restrictions also mean that for some items the postage will be a loss.

Books, Comics & Magazines (excluding the Accessories sub-category)

DVDs, Film and TV (excluding the Accessories/Storage, Film Memorabilia and TV Memorabilia sub-categories)

The Games sub-category of Video Games (change does not apply to the other sub-categories of Video Games)

Notes:

All listings must start at £0.99 or greater. Sellers are not permitted to start a listing in Buy It Now format for under £0.99.

If your item does not sell or if your buyer does not pay, you will not be eligible to get a relist credit for your insertion fees.

You pay the same Insertion Fee to list multiple identical items in the one listing as you would to list an individual item. For example, say the Insertion Fee payable for listing 1 item is £0.20. If you list 4 identical items in one listing, the Insertion Fee charged is the same (£0.20).

Over £600
9.9% of the initial £49.99 (£4.95), plus 5.9% of the initial £50.00 - £599.99 (£32.45), plus 1.9% of the remaining balance of the final selling price.
when you're paying 49.99 a month shop fee, a further 5p per listing x 1000 listings per month = another £50 per month and then 9.9 % final value fee on items up to 49.99 plus having to accept paypoo is fking outrageous

I set a store up on both ebay & ebid for a company.

The ebay store is costing hundreds per month and has returned only twice the sales as the ebid store, but the ebid store only cost 49.99 for LIFE, and then no more listing fees or selling fees for life or only 2% fee if sold with a galley picture.

Agreed Ebay isn't too far behind amazon but from the experience I have had the turnover makes the fee's worthwhile when using a basic £14.99 shop and selling > 75 items per month, usually I sell items for under £20.

Not looked into ebid but will do some digging around to see how it works. I have a friend who looked into amazon and did some listing on there to test the waters. Sales were slower than ebay and the fee's did work out higher but the costs of unsold items were lower due to their listing fees.
