My missus booked me for a full medical today - let's just say my prostate, amongst other organs, has been tampered with! Anyhoo, unsurprisingly the Doc told me I need to lose one and a half stone (thought it would be more to be honest!)

However, I don't eat that much and I excercise for about 3 hours a week. As such, any hints as to how to lose more weight?

How many fat marathon runners do you see finishing under 3 hours?

Pick a sport. Set some goals. Work to achieve them. If nothing else, you'll be fast and fat, which will get you on the news.

How have YOU been tampering with your prostate, sir??

3 hrs a week is a good amount, as long as it's at a reasonable pace, which I'm sure it is.

One way is to substitute the lunch sarnie for a little bowl of oatmeal with some fruit, that kind of thing. Breakfast, I normally throw a tub of activia onto some granola, and have an orange or apple.

Evening meal is usually a chicken breast, flavoured with something like pesto, with a bit of salad, perhaps a few new potatoes. Suppose they could be replaced with brown rice...

Other than that, any more and you'll be miserable! My offender is certainly the ale, though. If I packet that in, I'm sure I'd be more trim in no time. There's more chance of me platting my own snot than that happening, though..

Good luck..

It really is a case of calories in, vs calories out.

Monitor what you eat, write it down, total up cals, protein, carbs and fat ingested.

Then clean things up, drop total cals by say 500, get protein high as pos with eggs, fish, any meat and milk.

Eggs will help you keep your fat intake at a nice level, good fat, which is esential, and is great for loosing fat.

Lastly, exercise, pick something you enjoy, that isnt tedious, that you`ll be able to stick with.

The hours must just fly by wink

Enjoy your bacon sarnie (or whatever your poison is).

As long as you burn more than you put in you will loose weight.

Life is for living, not eating granola and oatmeal.

How old do you want to get, exactly?

Face it, your pension is down the drain, the planet is fecked, and the oil is going to run out by next Tuesday.

But bacon tastes goooood. So does butter. In combination with some bread, a little mustard and some red/brown/chilli sauce, they comprise the original Food Of The Gods.

If anyone tries to foist a natural, whole-grain, high-fibre alternative on you, do the decent thing and stuff said rabbit food up their fundamental orifice - and then go and celebrate by burning substantial quantities of petrol in the largest internal combustion engine you have access to.

Thus ends the lesson.

That's what he said. He said don't bother with oatmeal and fruit - substitute a bacon sarnie for it.

Exercise vs. intake mate. If you don't do sweet f-all physically during the day, you can't take a ton of carbs.

Best solution is swimming. It burns more calories than a cross-trainer, treadmill, or weights machine ever will.

I recently calculated my BMI, and am in th same position. Need to loose the last bit to take me from 85/86kg's down to 75 ish...i am 6"1 and have the biggest chest the world has seen. I have decided to continue my daily gym sessions but do do a good hour doing weights targeting a specific muscle group before i run for half an hour at 13 phh then cycle at a very high resistance for half an hour. Even with my heart rate at 180+ it does nothing...Weight training is key...no you will loose no weight but you will be built like a brick house...

Best advise yet.
