I'm looking for a book that covers the theory and practice of audio electronics.Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions please?

You need 'PMPO and other fibs' by Goodmans, Amstrad and Saisho.

Poke around Amazon or try the hobby electronics magazines, they often review books and should give a clue to what's worth buying. There must also be websites dedicated to 'that sort of thing'.
Meanwhile, build a Class AB amp with MOSFet front-end and valve output stages with THD down to 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000001%, 1000V/uSec and able to interface directly to a moving-coil pickup...
