Pub Recommendations Around Goodwood?
Discussion
Thinking of going for a bit of a drive from Guildford towards Goodwood (or south downs in general), but struggling to find a decent pub for lunch.
The only one I know of, and I've been too many times is the Earl of March in Lavant. Really want somewhere at the end of some nice lanes so I can have a bit of a hoon on the way there!
Any suggestions?

Ah yes, been there before a couple of years back and remember it being good, thanks for the reminder!Failing that the Royal Oak sounds promising, so at least I have a plan B.
Not been to the Crown in Chid since it's been re-done, it's only 10 minutes down the road for me though so not really a 'hoon'. Personally I'm not a great fan of the road between Chid and Petworth anyway - all the speed limits have been reduced in the last year or so, and it's usually too busy to overtake

Worth checking out the cafe bar at the Goodwood Hotel (formerly the Marriot)
Plus, slightly further afield:

Michelin star food at 36 On The Quay, Emsworth

Another vote for the Fox. Great setting and the grub's not bad....though seems to be getting a little pricey these days. And also The Holly Tree in Walberton. Absolutely first class food all made in their kitchens - no Brake Brothers there - and very reasonably priced.

Earl of March thankfully wasn't so busy...
