Things you've eaten that you wished you hadn't?
Discussion
On my last trip to Singapore I decided to take my team out for dinner.
Pudding arrived, I pushed it away.
Elina (PA) offered me some of her pudding, she seemed to be enjoying it she offered me a spoon full.
I tasted it.
"do you recognise the taste?" she said.
"I can taste the lychee juice but don't know what the lumps are."
I took another spoon full.
"What is it?"
"Frog sperm pudding" .. I kid you not..
"Well I've had some of yours......."

I consider myself quite adventurous with food and will give anything a go once.
In January this year, I broke my arm (badly enough to require an op) and spent a couple of days in a French hopsital. Three days after the op, still in hospital, I still had these little pots draining some sort of thick bloody fluid from in my arm. I didnt know what it was, but had it in my head that it was bone marrow.
Anyway, the night I go out of hospital I went back to Merribel to catch up with the other guys. They'd arranged for us all to go out for a meal. A number of the fella's on the table ordered a starter which i'd not tried before, and as they were raving about it, I thought I'd give it a go.
When it turned up, it was marrow. Small sliced of bone that, doubtless, a dog would love, but in my state at the time, wasnt fit for human consumption. The very sight of it made me wretch.
Not wanting to look like a fussy bugger (I'd only just met a lot of these guys and had been "fussed" over due to the accident), I tried a bit and I experienced something I have never ever come close to - I couldnt physically force myself to eat it. Kind of like a kid being forced a piece of broccoli by a loving parent, something inside wouldnt let me even get it to my mouth.
I didnt make a fuss, but good lord I felt unwell.
I'll grant you, its not frog spunk but what a choice!

I had this in Paris - roasted bones that have been split along their length, revealing the dark, fatty marrow. Served with toasted brown bread, salt and parsley. When it turned up, it was marrow. In the voice of Valentine Warner, "Yum!"
