Seen any good massacres lately? The BBC wants to know:
Discussion
On the BBC web site today:
"Taleban insurgents have killed at least 27 people travelling on buses in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar.
A Taleban spokesman said that all those killed in the attacks on three buses were Afghan government soldiers, but officials said they were civilians.
The attacks happened on Thursday but the bodies have only just been found, dumped over a wide area.
A number of the men were beheaded after the attack in the Maiwand district, local and military sources say"
It continues:
Are you in Kandahar? Did you witness the attacks? Please send your comment using the form below:
Naturally I replied:
"Yes I saw the whole thing. The beheadings. Everything. Why? Do you want some video off my mobile phone? My life was spared on condition I logged on to the BBC web site and gave an account of what I had seen. There were hundreds of others of BBC viewers who saw the massacres as well. They will soon be in touch. We were a bit traumatised by it all. But a cup of coffee and a couple of tea biscuits has settled our nerves. We were able to hike 40 miles to an internet cafe so we could log on and give you our comments. I hope you will use them."

Have they replied yet?
The news organisations love this method, as they don't have to pay for photos/video/content - usually in their terms and conditions, you are agreeing to hand over copyright to them.
I feel for the freelance photographers and journalists who put themselves in the front line, and only earn their crust when they sell their photos / words to be published. And the news organisations undercut them with this trick.
