Hi

I'm thinking of going on 2nd November - They've got Paul Merton on and a few other people I've never heard of - Josie Lawrence, Niall Ashdown, Richard Vranch, Neil Mullarkey, Lee Simpson. Has anyone else heard of these - are they any good?!

Cheers

We we're there last weekend and hadn't heard of any of the act's before we went. But they were all damn funny.

The host was probably the funniest, I can't remember his name, but you'll know if it is the same guy because he could be Jason Plato's twin brother.

Cracking night out.

I've been a few times this year. Often without knowing nor caring much who was performing on the night, because pretty much everyone i've seen there has been great.
It's actually more down to the day of the week you go, that makes more of a difference. Stand Up and Players nights are the best, in my opinion.
Don't worry too much if you have never heard of the people there.. You may recognise some from TV shows, or maybe not. I caught a guy called "Jason Rouse" there recently. I'd never heard of him either, but he's brilliant biggrin
A lil youtube snippet for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQWYfbqFiGE

Unless you go to live comedy a lot... then Most of the stand up clubs will have four or five people you've never heard of. Maybe someone headlining who has done one of the TV quiz shows if you're lucky... There are hundreds of great comedians out there who don't make it to TV. All of the bigger clubs are pretty reliable line-up wise on a Friday/Saturday night...

I saw a guy called Mike Wozniak on Saturday who is a newcomer to look out for - absolutely brilliant.

Neil Mullarky also appears on Whose Line.

I was at the comedy store a month or so back, really good, would go back next time I am in London.

I've been to the comedy store about 6 times, and enjoyed every one of them.

AFAIK, to make it onto the stage on a Sunday, all the people you list must be VERY, VERY good. It's far easier to have a packed house on a Friday and Saturday, not so on a Sunday when the weekend is effectively over for most.

I really don't think that's how it works. All their Sunday listings are current comedy circuit acts.... who are appearing in all the main comedy venues around the UK. I've been going regularly for years and have seen 80% of their line ups.... They are all strong and if they are good, or VERY VERY that night usually depends on that '?' factor... which nobody can ever be certain.

You won't go wrong if you choose one of the bigger clubs on the circuit. Whichever night you go. Friday/Saturday OR Sunday.
