What archive media for future generations?

I was looking through some very old photos of my grandparents when they were young and it got me thinking, what media should I use to store our digital photos & home videos that will be useable for our grandkids in 50 years time? DVD-R? CD? or do I just have to keep archiving and transferring to the latest technology every few years?

Your best bet is to keep updating to 2 different mediums every few years.

Even DVDs/CDs corrupt over time...
