How do parents here feel about their kids being educated by the Al Gore film. Do they accept it as fact or challenge it?

Mr Justice Burton of the London High Court asked the promoters of Gore's film to produce evidence of what they were claiming. No evidence could be produced. To quote from the judgement:

"In scene 20, Mr Gore states "that's why the citizens of these Pacific nations have all had to evacuate to New Zealand". There is no evidence of any such evacuation having yet happened."

The errors are listed at number 24 in the link..

If they show the AIT film at our local school, without explaining the errors and at least presenting some of the arguments against mmgw, I for one will lodge a formal complaint.

I'm all for education and responsibility for our enviroment, but let's teach facts or at least explain what is meant by 'theory.'

I am willing to bet that the Guidance will be ignored in many schools.

I asked my eldest (12) if they were taught MMGW as "fact" at school.

He said no as at least a few of his teachers said the MMGW is crap anyway.

But if they do show AIT I will also be making a complaintirked

Ice uses more volume than water.
Why is it then, when they talk about the polar ice caps, as the ice melts the sea rises ???
Surely the opposite would happen.

And nobody ever mentiones the positive effects of global warming. Africa would become a more sustainable place for its population.
There would be less cost in energy bills for the colder areas of the planet.
In a more CO2 rich atmosphere crops and plant life would grow more efficiently.

etc. etc.

Because ice is less dense it floats so some of it is not displacing the water. nerd Thought everyone covered that in primary school?

I'm not so sure it's as simplistic as an ice cube in a glass of water.

Surely there is a mass of ice that is on land too?

A body floating in water displaces its own mass. When sea ice melts it doesn't raise sea level directly.

Lots of ice is on land (e.g. Antarctica, glaciers). If it melts into the sea and is not replaced, the sea level rises.

Yes.. it was more this point I was aiming at.... so that fact that if the floating ice caps melt... then no effect on sea levels, right ?
Contrary to all the government propogander.

I think the fact that the ice pack is thickening quite possibly doesn't help the Govt Propoganda. And my car was frosted over this morning.............

Good to hear that some teachers dispute MMGW though.

So if the governments education authority rules that this is not as accurate as first thought, will they be removing and rebating all of the taxes imposed on the basis of the MMGW "facts"?

Thought not!

Based on bouyancy, the sea levels would remain the same. The extra volume that the ice has compared to its liquid counterpart is the bit we see sticking out of the top.

Also, its not the icecaps you have to worry about, its Greenland. All that Ice sits on Land so it isn't floating...

Although personally I think we should all blame Manbearpig

What's the deal with all this 'right on' BS being taught in schools nowadays?

When i was at school teachers taught fact, not some left wing noncence that no one can agree what is happening.

If i hear someone say 'carbon footprint' to me again, the story in the newspaper will read '... then he turned the gun on himself'

Ah, you don't understand. There are many out there who think this is a FACT.. I had an argument with someone the other day who could not understand that computer models did not equate to fact...... And no-one can agree? This self same deluded fool was telling me that ALL scientists agree that it is happening and all the fault of man. When I start listing scientists who disagree, can you guess who they are being paid by?!?!!? I've even had an argument with someone who was telling me the Medieval Warm Period wasn't warm. How can I argue with logic like that?

It's quite tragic, MMGW is the new religion for Westerners at least. Though I did have some J. Witnesses round the other day, they are now on about MMGW, but the lady in question didn't know about the work of Schulte etc..Strangely.
